A Hazard Card Hazard is a type of card introduced by HelixReactor. They are similar to Treasure Cards. They are stored in the Main Deck. Although not mandatory, they can play additional role in Treasure Duels, but they can also be used in other types of Duels.

Design[]

Hazard Cards have a light purple border (the same as for Glitch Cards). Despite them not being monsters, they possess their own "star stat", named Threat Level Threat, as well as another stat at the bottom of their effect box, named RISK.

Behaviour[]

When a player activates a Hazard Card from their hand, they can choose to place it face-up on any zone on their opponent's side of the field (depending on its Range) that has no monster, Spell/Trap Card, or another Hazard Card on it. Like with Treasure Cards, the Hazard Card will not count as being on that zone, and can still be used by the opponent. But when a player places a card on a zone with a Hazard Card on it, that Hazard Card's effect is triggered, after which it is sent to its owner's Graveyard.

Like with Treasure Cards, Hazard Cards on the field cannot be removed from the field by card effects, and their activation/effect activation cannot be negated.

During the end of each turn, the Threat Level of all Hazard Cards on the last player's side of the field is increased by 1 (max. 12). If the total Threat Level of all Hazard Cards on one side of the field is higher than 12, the opposing player (in other words, the owner of those Hazard Cards) loses an amount of Life Points equal to the total RISK of all Hazard Cards on that side of the field.

Precisions[]

  • If both Extra Monster Zones have no monsters on them, Hazard Cards cannot be placed on the Extra Monster Zones.
  • If a Hazard Card's Range specifically mentions Pendulum Zones, that hazard can only be placed on Spell/Trap Zones 1 and 5. That zone then becomes entirely treated as a Pendulum Zone, and non-Pendulum Cards can no longer be placed on it.
  • In a Treasure Duel, when a Hazard Card that was on a Treasure Card with a lower Medal Number than that Hazard Card's Threat Level leaves the field, the Medal Number of that Treasure Card is lowered by an amount equal to the difference between the Hazard card's Threat Level, and the Treasure Card's Medal Number. Hazard Cards have otherwise no impact on Treasure Cards.
